Jennings: State prepared for fires

Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Gavin Jennings, has said that is more than ready for the upcoming fire season.

Mr Jennings said that Elvis, which arrived last week, provides important strategic backup to firefighters on the ground.

"We've got more fire fighters available to us this summer than we've had before. We've got more equipment," he said.

"We've got the best part of 200 aircraft that we can call upon in times of emergency of which Elvis is one."
