Dutton to fight for Dickson
(Tuesday 20 October 2009)
Shadow Minister for Health and Ageing, Peter Dutton, has confirmed he will fight to retain his seat of Dickson at the next election.
Electoral redistribution saw the Queensland electorate become notionally Labor, and Dutton risks a voter backlash after unsuccessfully running for preselection in another electorate.
"I've tested their loyalty and their support over the last month and it's my job now, between this point and the next election, to win back that support and faith and that's what I intend to do," he said.
"I certainly have been humbled by the level of support in my electorate. I believe that I've got something to offer into the future."
