Milne: scrap car salary loophole (Monday 12 October 2009) Greens Senator Christine Milne has called on the government to end tax concessions for people who obtain a car through salary sacrifice. The Greens proposed 22 amendments to the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), including raising the minimum emissions cut from 5 per cent to at least 25 per cent by 2020. "We'd be looking at getting rid of the fringe benefits tax concession for motor vehicles and for a number of the fuel credit programs that are there at the moment. And at the same time, be looking at salary packaging to include a benefit for public transport,” she said. "The Greens are with the scientists and the community and with the global community in recognising we really have to deal with climate change and do it urgently.” (read the full story at http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/10/12/2711652.htm?section=justin) To view Christine Milne's full biography, purchase a copy of Who's Who in Australia 2009 or subscribe to Who's Who Live!.
