Turnbull threatens to resign (Thursday 1 October 2009) Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull has threatened to resign over the Emissions Trading Scheme. Mr Turnbull has said that if his Liberal Party colleagues fail to endorse the ETS, he may be forced to put his leadership on the line. "I will not lead a party that is not as committed to effective action on climate change as I am,'' he said. "Whether my leadership prevails or not on this issue time will tell, but the fact of the matter is we cannot be a party with nothing to say.''
