Garnaut: pass ETS now

Professor Ross Garnaut, one of Australia’s most respected authorities on climate change, has said that our credibility is at stake if an emissions trading scheme is not passed by the senate.
Professor Garnaut warned that the differences of opinion between the government and the opposition do not make a good impression internationally.
"With the 2020 target on the table, if the rest of the world is prepared to accommodate strong mitigation, I think our interests would be served by passing ETS," he said.
"Australia has a bit of a credibility problem; Australia signed Kyoto and then didn't ratify it, and we're the highest per capita emitter amongst developed countries."
