Prof. Parker: Australian breakthrough for disease prevention

Professor Michael Parker from the St Vincent's Institute is among a group of scientists who have deconstructed the structure of part of a white blood cell.
The discovery means that scientists will be able to work on a possible cure for damaged white blood cells and thus help prevent diseases such as leukaemia and asthma.
"If we can stop those strings forming, then there's no signal,” Professor Parker said.
“And if there's no signal, then the cells will stop proliferating," he said.
