Forrest to create jobs for Australia’s indigenous (Monday 4 August 2008) Australia's richest man Andrew Forrest is aiming to create 50,000 jobs for indigenous people under a new scheme. Mr Forrest said that the Australian Employment Covenant aims to enlist hundreds of companies to employ indigenous people within the next two years. "Every employer in Australia can look at this. If you employ one person already, please make the second one an Aboriginal person," Mr Forrest said. "So my direct appeal is for every employer in Australia … we ask you to step out to your major role, your major part in breaking, at last, the Aboriginal social and monetary poverty cycle, and employ those Aboriginals," he said.
