Fitzgibbon supports sending troops to Pakistan

Minister for Defence Joel Fitzgibbon has told of his support of sending Australian troops to Pakistan to help manage insurgents crossing the border into Afghanistan.

Mr Fitzgibbon says Australia has more than 1,000 troops fighting in Afghanistan and must consider what we can do to help Pakistan.

"We are committed to fight against those extremists and terrorists who are destroying and making the world not safe," he said.

"This is a war which is against Pakistan, and we'll fight for our own cause."
