Batt: Child-protection workers stressed (Thursday 17 July 2008) Karen Batt, state secretary of the Community and Public Sector Union says child-protection staff are suffering high levels of stress due to an extreme workload. Ms Batt says the Government urgently needs to employ more staff in order to reduce stress levels and to deal with a list of cases that have not been allocated a worker. "They're just robbing Peter to pay Paul. The ability of that to be the solution won't last until the end of the week because pressures are building in all the workplaces," she said. "We have people who need assistance now and they need to resource it to deal with the backlog that is growing every day."
