Evans claims yellow jersey (Tuesday 15 July 2008) Australian cyclist Cadel Evans has claimed the Tour de France leader’s yellow jersey after finishing eighth in the 10th stage. Evans now leads the tour by only one second, an incredible display of bravery after sustaining injuries to his left side in a high-speed clash on Sunday. "I still can't quite believe it actually. I can't believe it now. I couldn't believe it then on the podium. Yesterday I was at ... you know … it was my Tour low and today, until this point in the Tour, it is my Tour high,” Evans said. "Only 26 hours have passed (since then). It's a bit emotional roller coaster to say the least. To just see the Boxing Kangaroo and the Aussie flag up here on Hautacam is kind of nice too."
