Kylie awarded OBE (Friday 4 July 2008) Australia’s pop princess Kylie Minogue received an Order of the British Empire (OBE) from Prince Charles in the ballroom of Buckingham Palace yesterday. Following the lavish ceremony, attended by 300 guests and the 120 Queen’s New Year’s honours recipients, Ms Minogue spoke to media in the palace courtyard, where she told of her nerves before receiving the award. “I was overwhelmed, nervous, I am so honoured,” she said. The former Neighbours actor turned popstar said she is now an honorary Briton, before adding, “but I still call Australia home”.
