For more than a century, Who's Who in Australia has provided a unique perspective on prominent individuals. Containing over 13,000 biographical entries, the title is a commemoration of the lives of influential Australians and a fascinating addition to any personal, corporate or reference library.

A century-old tradition

One of Australia’s oldest and most respected reference titles, Who’s Who in Australia began as the vision of South Australian sub-editor, Fred Johns.

Following his arrival in Australia in 1884, Johns complied a volume of biographies of notable living countrymen. First published in 1906, 'Johns' Notable Australians' contained nearly 1,100 entries representing a considerable range of pursuits. Subsequent editions were published in 1908, 1912, 1913 and 1914 before the book first appeared as Who's Who in Australia in 1922.

Although Johns passed away in December of 1932, his legacy lived on, and steadily earned a reputation as the most reliable source of information on eminent Australians. Now published annually, each edition of Who's Who in Australia continues the tradition of prestige and accuracy that was the hallmark of Fred Johns' work more than a century ago.
